Just looking for any input you all may have on the chris craft concept boats. there is one for sale locally for a decent price. I know already it needs some tlc to get running but can you tell me if there are any pros/cons to these boats? this model has a single omc 7.4 liter that the owner switched from fuel injection to carburetion. Thanks in advance!

Overall, a desirable brand. The OMC outdrive, not so much. Condition is the key and you will have to judge that for yourself.

i'd sure like to have a chris craft. but not with a omc drive. fwiw, i love my boat. but it came with an omc set up too. i would not want my boat if it had an omc package in it.
if i were you. i'd research if ya can get parts for that set up. starting with the manifolds. they go bad every now and then. if memory serves me. from what i read, if it's a king cobra omc drive. finding manifolds will be like pulling hens teeth. if ya need some part ya can't get. your pride and joy will be sitting on the hard with no way to get it going again. not a great idea.

ya also say it needs some tlc. how much tlc? this shows a lack of maint. by the previous owner. what else that ya can't see has been neglected.

switched from fuel injection to carburetion
that seems like a step backwards. why would someone do that? (maybe couldn't get parts for it?) + it's modified by someone with unknown skills.

i'd be skeptical of this boat imho.... the omc drive would be the deal breaker for me. top of the line chris craft boat or not.....

good luck in your decision....

My understanding is that the first VP SX drive was nothing more than a re-badged OMC Cobra. Which I believe is what is on that boat. No problem getting parts though any Volvo dealer. It's the OMC King Cobra that you want to stay away from. If your serious about the boat check into yourself by speaking with a Volvo dealer.

That is a nice looking boat but the show stopper for me is the lack of ventilation in the cuddy. Tinted plastic portholes that don't open, no thanks. If you don't plan to overnight in it probably not a big deal.

Thank you for the replys! It has the dual prop setup on it. the badges were weathered pretty bad, and honestly im not sure what the drive was on it. And yes the guy who owns the boat took the fuel injection off and put a carb on it, definitely a step backwards. It appears to me that he is trying to run the carb with a high pressure fuel pump setup for fuel injection. The overall condition of the boat is good, some fading, and torn upholstery but everything seems to be there and is intact.

So after doing a little more research here is what i found. The engine is actually a volvo penta and the outdrive is a dp outdrive. Does that sound familiar to anyone? Better or worse options than the omc?
