Can anyone help with gas mileage for a 350hp V8 5.7liter Merc Cruiser? Is there anything anyone would know about this year, make or model?
Thanks,
Mark

Fuel economy will suck. If you got 3mpg, you'd be doing good.

What I know about a 2335 of that vintage is that it's a big 23' boat. More like 23'8" long. The only one I ever road in, was a 97 and it had the 7.4. And that's the motor I would want. If the one you are looking at is a 300hp 5.7, that's good, but if it's a carbureted 250hp, I don't think you're gonna like the performance out of the hole. If it's a 5.7LX EFI Gen +, it's 280hp and it would be okay, but no rocket. My boat (1997 2135) is a short 21' (20'6") and has the 5.7LX EFI Gen + with a Bravo 3 drive, and it doesn't go 60mph. And I get around 3.5 to 4mpg if I am real careful.

Hope that helps.

I have a 1995 2335 Chapparal 5.7 23.8 feet Don't know about MPG depends on tide, wind etc.

Normally 5-6 gallons a hour. Running Bravo 1 brand new engine 4 barrel
Great boat! Rips out of the water WOT about 4500 rpm.

Although I think I am going to with a little more prop. I have been avoiding the change over from Alum to Stainless for awhile but its time with the new engine.

Problem with stainless is trashing your outdrive if you hit something and electrolysis increases alot.

I have a 1996 2335 ss limited Edition, B3, 5.7 300hp, 4brl. She comes out of the hole and hits plane in seconds with 6 adults onboard. Cruising speed is 35-37 mph at 3800 rpm. She'll run 45mph easily with a top speed of 55 flat water and trimmed. Best boat I 've owned for taking wakes at cruising speed. Ultra smooth ride! Maintains plane at 15mph. (Previous boats 05 24' Sea Ray Sundeck, 32' Regal mid cabin). Nimble in handling and docking. Gas mileage is @ 3 mph, 75 gal. tank. This boat is Awesome! :D

I agree with you, this is the best boat taking waves at cruising speed, this is why I dont sold and repower also Chaparral use the best materials,V extended hull is the signature of Chaparral and the sucess of performance. This model had won an award-1996 Outstanding Mid-Size Performance 2335 SS by Powerboat magazine.I remember the first time I aboard the 2335 from my friend (Jose Rip),Im really impress, later,he sold me the boat. The better boat to the choppy seas of the east of Puerto Rico.

Nice!! I have the 96' 2335 standard. Repowered in 04' with a jasper marine. Can't speak for the original engine but I would echo all your comments for my set up now.. i remember trying to figure out the gas milage when I ran it up and down the Hudson and I came up with about 2 MPG average...
obvioulsy tide and wind are big factors. Absolutley LOVE this boat.
I do get a little pang when the 22' gradys roll by ;) ;)

TilliamWe has a point... I have the 250hp engine and it don't "shoot" out of the hole. It kinda climbs out, but does so pretty quick. Once on plane she is very responsive.
