I'm looking for the part number for the water pump rebuild kit that will fit my 1150 (115hp inline 6 cyl) from 1970. Serial number begins 2836XXX (I dont remember the last digits - i'm not being secretive). I've called a couple of places including iboats and I'm getting told different part numbers. Does anyone know for sure what is correct? I'd like to get the housing too if it is available.

Thanks Jim

The w/pump bases were different on the earliest 115 so tere is not a complete kit available so you must by the base seperatly if you can find one or the seals for it and settle for a upper kit here's a link for it but I think that it's priced to low so you might check the price. http://www.iboats.com/Sierra_18_351...z.36650--**********.388397604--view_id.187583

I wound up buying the kit Laddies mentioned along with a Mercury base. The upper housing that came with kit was a Sierra 18-3116 housing, which was supposed to replace the Mercury assembly, but it was missing the upper oil seal. You can see the gap between the metal insert in which the impeller spins and the top housing where the seal is supposed to go.

Is this Sierra upper assembly not supposed to have this seal? Since its on the Mercury parts schematic (pn 26-16977, 18-2013), I presume its a necessary part.

Anybody have the answer?

Thanks.

Ever the plastic merc housings don't have a seal, the impeller make the seal on the S/S cup and the seal kept the dirt out now the large rubber slinger ring does that so they have omitted the top seal.
