I am fully restoring my 1962 NorrisCraft 15 ft boat. It has great lines with the fins in the back. I am really struggling to find a new 40 or 50 hp motor. Ideally a 1962 motor, but would settle for early 70s too. Struggling with whether to risk electric shift or not. Any advice or ideas on finding a good motor?

Electric shift is very simple and reliable in my opinion..------You see more posts about mechanical shift units jumping out of gear than electric shift.------Ok, I understand how they work and know how to maintain / repair them.---What is in your workshop and how determined are you to learn about 1960's motors ?------Your location may determine the availability of good / rebuilt used 1960's motors

Is there a motor on it now? (May be valuable for parts, measurements, etc.) Need all the bits for steering and remote operation, and some interchange is possible.

I would hold out for a 40 hp '62 to start. AOMCI.org is a great source. Look for fresh water use. Condition is everything, so worth traveling for. Try to get full controls with the motor, transom box and shift control box.
