I am doing a Mechanical Engineering project on design details of spade rudders on container ships for class. I'm not a Marine Engineer and am not familiar with many of the information resources known in the nautical world. I was hoping to find a resource that would show me what type of airfoils are used on these ships and how to choose one for a specific vessel. I am also looking for ship specifications on different vessels that are more detailed than the basic weight and length. I don't need a great deal of information but the more I have the more detailed and accurate my design can be. If there are any common resources for this information I would really appreciate a lead to point me the way. (I know for Aerospace we use JANE's All the World's Aircraft and companies like McMasterCarr to find specific machine parts so I'm looking for similar recourses in the Marine field.) Anything can help! Thank you.

Re: Looking for Marine Engineering Resources

Check out the library at the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Michigan.
