I am looking to buy a new runabout boat, likely to be around 19'. It will be used primarily for cruising around the small lake I live on and for skiing. I am leaning towards a Crown Line or Caravelle. I was originally looking at a Tahoe but the resale value doesn't seem to hold up. Is Crown Line a good brand to go with for quality and resale? I would like to stay under $20K. Also for a 19' boat is the 4.3L V6 sufficient or do I need to go to a 5.0L V8?

Thanks

Phantom,
Sorry, but I'm not knowledgeable about the boat brands you're looking at. But I would definitely go for the 5.0 liter engine over the V6. 19 ft is a lot of boat to push around and if you want to do some skiing you'll appreciate the extra power. You'd be working the V6 to death if not.

The few extra bills for the v8 would more than pay for the frustration if you got the V6 and realized that it was underpowered.

Thanks,
Nav

I would stay away from Crownline. Their Customer Service is not good at all. I don't think they know what Customer Service is.
