Looking to uy a service manual for this motor that is new to me, and need to know the year of this motor. The serial number tag says BF75L 1301753

I need the manual to set the timing where the belt on top is. One of my kids pulled it off and I need to set the timing again, along with cleaning the carb. So with needing to order a carb kit, need the year again.

Need the 7 digits following the BF75L to be more specific, but I think they all the same anyway. It's going to be somewhere between an '81-'85.

Thank you for the response. I will get a manual that covers those years.

Unless someone knows how to set the timing wheels?

Top cylinder is #1.

My issue was the previous owner had the cam pulley 360 degree out of location. When cam pulley was rotated 360 degrees and the belt replaced. It fired right up. Seams pretty built proof.

Glad you got it sorted out...just to be a nit picker, I think you meant 180 degrees out. ;)

Depends on which pulley you are describing. Either the Cam pulley or the Crank pulley. I rotated the Cam pulley 360 degrees so dots lined up. Or if you want to think about it, It was firing on TDC for the bottom cylinder, instead of the Top cylinder.

If you rotated the cam pulley 360, you didn't change a thing. Valves that were open, closed, or partially open/closed will be in exactly the same position as when you started.

As far as cam timing is concerned, if you turn the crank 360 you aren't changing anything either. If you start with one of the pistons at TDC, and turn the crank 360 degrees, that piston is STILL going to be at TDC.
