Been looking for a while now, no luck finding a kit to fit my 1997 Yamaha 2 stroke C20MSHS.
Yamaha does not make one for this model, only for the 9.9 15 and 25.
If anyone knows where i could find an after market kit I would really appreciate some help

Does your flywheel have teeth for the starter? I know the early models that were pull start only still came with flywheels with the teeth and the lighting coil (at least on the 25hp models - but the 20hp is just a 25 with different carbs to my knowledge). With those you just needed a starter motor, starter solenoid, rectifier, starter button, and neutral safety switch. Yeah it's a lot of parts but a lot of those you can replace with non-oem stuff that is still pretty good quality and I believe you can get the PWC version of the solenoid and rectifier much cheaper too.

Whenever they swapped to the flywheel without the starter teeth I think they changed the ignition system a bit. I know the CDI box was changed (either had an extra or one less wire than previous models - I think it had an extra blue wire). I'm guessing since they dropped the flywheel teeth they may have made it more difficult for those models to be converted.

Thanks scout,
My flywheel does not have teeth and there are 2 extra green wires.
What I'd hope to find is a full starter kit, too many parts to seek out individually...if one is made for this motor that is?
I know that there is no OEM kit available so an aftermarket is what I'm seeking.
It may be a needle in a haystack to find, god knows I've been looking.
Keeping my fingers crossed for now.

The two green wires are from the lighting coil. They would plug into the rectifier/regulator to charge the battery while running.

I looked at a few parts motors I have and the 90's to 2000's 20/25hp models I have appear to use a brown and blue wire from the charge coil under the flywheel as opposed to the earlier models using a single brown wire. Since mine and yours have green wires for the lighting coils I don't think this has any impact on the e-start system. I believe it is just a matter of obtaining all of the extra parts and swapping flywheels.

Could you share the part number you found for the e-start kit for the other models?

Is your C20 model a single carb or twin carb model?
