I would like to find a wheel for my Sterling trailer. Takes a 4.80X8 tire. Weird lug pattern. Six lugs, spaced about 1/2" from the rim, 3 1/4" apart and a 7" circle diameter. Anybody that can help me out there?

Ayuh,... I'd replace the hubs, or axle to get into something that parts can be bought for....
I really doubt you're going to find a wheel like those..

When I used to race go karts, the rims were in two pieces and bolted together like the rims in your picture.

I would think the center of the hub attaches the wheel/rim to the spindle.

Yep, looks like a tube type split rim to me, no lugs, attaches to the spindle via the bearings and adjuster nut only.
1950's tech.

Your best bet will be to convert to a modern hub and rim. If your lucky, it uses standard size bearings.

I've had a few Gator and TeeNee trailers with that set up.
