I give up. I bought a NEW long block and that is pissing out rust chunks in my oil. I've spent over $10,000 chasing never ending problems. MY $1700 ECM throws 8 error codes including manifold leaks, sensor failures. Rather than pay a marina $130 an hour to just figure it out, never mind the additional cost in parts, I figure I might was well eat it and find a decent drop in complete engine. Does anyone know where I can get a reman or complete pulled from a damaged boat? 2005 and up, and please, NOT from Michigan Motorz. somebody help. My boat is a 2005 Sea Ray Sundeck 240. I need some good news. I'm losing my shirt.

God, wish you lived next door. In a week we could buy parts, have em shipped in and build a 383 and drop it in using your marine parts. Your story sucks. Where are you located? That will help anyone who might have an answer to your actual question.

I'm actually in Ottawa, Canada - but I'm along the border of upstate NY... so, ya.. I'm pretty far away from you !! However, I'm willing to drive or pay freight anywhere from NY to Florida....

Bondo eBay there's a couple used ones on there. Plenty if you want new bobtail engines. You say new with rust in oil what is going on from your perespective? As rick stated lots of will to help, if you are north of border maybe bondo is close ?

How new is new? The supplier isn't standing behind their motor?
Rust chunks in your oil, that's an odd one.

I bought a long block from Michigan Motor and this thing has never ran.... at first it was not being able to find the correct ECM, but I have 2 and they both perform the same way... throwing errors.. I've spent $1000's in parts and labour, all new smart craft gauges, a complete dash with all wiring, main blue cable back to ECM, starter, fuel pumps, alt, wiring harness...EVERYTHING and this has NEVER run since I had the block put in 2 years ago.... it fires for 2 seconds and dies... sounds horrible and I've gone through 4 mechanics.... this is why I just don't know where or what to do !!

did you spend the $500 on Rinda software to plug in to see what is going on? would have spend that vs thousands in parts.

what is your fuel pressure (watch it as it runs), is it steady at 43psi? when it dies, is there still fuel pressure?

BTW, what you are describing has nothing to do with the long block itself. it is tied into the EFI system itself.

I bought a long block from Michigan motors and had it put in... it never ran properly and has been sitting for 2 years in-between turning it over to trying to run it... i may have to figure the rest out (errors on Tach) and then maybe take out the engine , drop the oil pan and manually crank it over, open it up to see what the cylinder walls look like... I just can't win !

That doesn't make sense to me. Seems like you never got your fuel or ignition working, but the engine itself should be just fine unless it was left where it could soak up rain water. Sure be nice to have someone who knows engines take a look at it.
