You know the color green... well picture that X 100. Thats how green I am when it comes to boats.

I lived in AZ- hated boats. Then in Idaho where there are a few 10 mile by 30 mile lakes. Bought a 92 searay with a 4.3. Had her for one season. Was forced to move back to AZ...

Now I am about to leave AZ for CT. Near the shore (where I am from). Aside from learning and being taught...where do I begin. I have always loved saltwater fishing. My main ocean access will be near New London/Westerly.

How do I "start" looking for a ocean boat? I have been through 100s of hobbies. I have learned things take time and not like the shiny things get my attention....best that I can... but really where do I start? I will be moving around Christmas. Next Spring/Summer will be my goal.
I am selling my RZR (can't use in ct...) so thats 20K right there. I picture my budget to be $10K-18K. Would be trailering too.

Any advice for my SUPER early stages

Thx

Think about a closed bow walk around for LI Sound instead of a bow rider style boat, and self bailing with outboard power. I've taken my bowrider out in the Sound but only on calm days, with the bow cover on, just in case. I would never get another bowrider with an I/O for these boating conditions, it just limits you too much and isn't really safe, IMHO.

I agree that a closed bow is safer for the ocean. Bowriders are fine for a lake, but where you're going to be you'll want a closed bow. Check out all the "Haulover inlet" videos on Youtube and you'll see what I mean. Best of luck.

I have taken me 19 foot searay in 7 foot seas. Did gave the bow canvase in place as i was stuffing the boat into waves

Sometimes all you need is a 10 foot boat, sometimes you need 100 feet
