I have found a very nicely maintained 1992 Sea Ray 180....4.3. Have not made an offer yet. Will have a Sea Ray dealer do a full check first. Am interested in opinions from any owners/past owners of this boat.....curious for opinions on the seating layout of this boat - b/b and jump seats vs the captains seats and bench...........also curious regarding what a good condition 1992 is worth in todays market......thanks!

Bought a 92 180 with bench seat in back in 2004 for 3600 and later sold it for 4000 in 2006...Was a great little boat in great shape.....Mine had the 3.0L the 4.3 is a better choice for sure....great starter boat

The boat I am looking at does NOT have the bench seat......has the standard seating layout.....b/b and jump seats. What's your opinion of one vs the other.

The captains chairs and bench seat to me is the better layout, my first boat had b to b and jump seats, it was 17', current 04, 185 has bench seat with captains chairs, and sunpad in rear, I like the layout much better.

I have a '95 180BR and I like it a lot. It has open bow, B to B and jump seats that can be relocated to an upper perch and create a sun deck at the stern. and built in swim deck with ladder. My back to backs are adjustable and fold down flat. I wanted this for more seating as opposed to the captains chairs.

to each is own on the seating arrangement....I will say that the back to back in my opinion do not leave much room for movement. more than3 adults and the floorspace gets cramped, especially when you have a cooler.
Like I said though...its all what makes YOU happy.
I know the admiral loved to lay out up on the sun pad or lie down on the bench and read.

I bought mine last year, May 2009 for $3500, 1992 180 BR LTD 3.0L Alpha I. It?s in great condition, well maintained. I like the layout, captain?s chairs, bench and sunpad makes if feel more roomy. Hard to swivel the captain?s chairs to face the bench, but it can be done. Love the bench and sunpad for stretching out on.

Re: Looking at Used 1992 Sea Ray 180

Hi Mike:

Thanks for the message. If this were an average boat, then $6K would be realistic. If you have been looking around, I'm sure you have seen that $6K boats are crap with 600+ hours, trashed interiors, etc. If you were to see the boat, this has the very desirable 4.3L 180 hp and together with the 330hrs on it, it is more like a 10 year vessel. If you are close by, it may be worth your while to check it out. If you are genuinely interested, call me .

Thanks,

Rob
