I have decided to sell my 1989 searay boat project i started 4 years ago and I dont have the time to work in it. Someone it coming to look at it tonight!

I have always wanted a jetboat, and am in love with the 00-01 Yamaha XR1800s but i just dont think its a smart move, so im back to looking at bow riders.

I wanted to get a newer 05+ searay (as they have the wrap around windshield that i love) but since its the summer months the prices seem pretty high.

I just came across a 1992 Regal one town over for sale. Im surprised to see it have a wrap around windshield back in 92. The owner says the boat is MINT, garage kept, and low hours. Looking at the online pictures it does look very nice. Also says its the 3.0 merc.

How are the quality of the older regals? anyone have any input? Anything specific to these boats i should know about or look for? Im still hesitant on buying another older boat like this but if the floor is solid and it runs fine, well....

thanks for any input

my 2002 SeaRay 190 had a "wrap around" windshield. They had them going back to the early 90's just like your Regal. Many boats transitioned from the flat windshields to curved starting in the late 80's

If you want a 05+ Searay and want to save some $$ just buy a Bayliner. Basically the same boat, same mfg with a smaller price tag and different name badge. In some cases (05 is a good example year) the Bayliners actually had nicer interiors..

A friend of mine had a 20' Regal, he really liked it. From what I understand they are a well made quality boat (hence the name) "Regal"

The biggest factor is 22 years rather than the brand. So, make sure that the beauty is not skin deep. Regals have been regarded as decent boats over the years.

I have a 1989 Regal 185 with the 3.0 liter. Runs good, is not rotted out, and is a solid boat still. I store it outside with a cheap walmart cover on it and it is a lot of cheap fun. Mine has the flat windshield with the pointy corners that tear up boat covers :)

Something that works well are those swimming noodles. I cut one up a year and use it to cover the corners. It slips over the top of the windshield and gently folds down to cover the entire corner. Looks dumb, but saves the boat covers.

I own a Regal 195 and it's solid. Good boats from a family run business.
