Looking over a 96 Searay 18 footer for my neighbor.
It has the 3.0 engine.
We are going over to give it a look and do a compression test as well as looking over the hull, floor, transom ect.
The Boat looks like its in good shape from just what we could tell last night just before dark.
The owner states she had it winterized last year but it has not been started this season.
Are thoughts are pulling the plugs and putting a little oil in the cylinders because we don't know if it was actually fogged when winterized.
We think he can get this boat for around 2500 bucks, the womans husband left her the boat in a divorce settlement.
Book value shows 5 to 6k for this boat.
Anyway, what is a normal or base compression numbers on a 96 merc 3.0?
And was that a 140 or 130 hp...?
Thanks

140 psi would be good, with the top & bottom #s being within 15# or so....;)

Thanks Haut!

Would you know if the floors in that year SeaRay was wood? The seller told my neighbor they were told that it was no wood from the people they bought it from.I'm skeptical on that one..
