Hola,

I am new to the forums and power boats. This seemed to be the best source of information I have found yet. I hope you guys can help me. I am looking at two boats and one of them is a Sea Ray.

A dealer near me is selling a 18ft Sea Ray open bow for $6,900. He said he sold it new to the first owner in 1997 and it is in very good shape. It looks like the boat could use some cleaning and the dealer said he would replace the cover for free. The boat has a 4cyl engine in it and it comes with the trailer. He said the only thing wrong with it was that the radio/tape player was broken. Any idea if this is a good price and is there anything else should I look out for?

Thanks in advanced,

That should be the 175 bowrider, it is 18'2" long with the 3.0L, the others show the 4.3L, I am not sure about the price, that is basically a 14 year old boat, I like SeaRay they are great boats but in todays market and 14 years old, I would do some more looking. Dealer wants $7G, how much cover is he replacing for free, mooring cover with bow cover, full convertible top and enclosure and is that new or used. I would do some more price checking. You can go here on iboats and check used boat pricing for something comparable to what you are looking at as well as other places.

Thanks for the reply, it is a little bit imho as well, granted dealers always ask more than private party. I am also looking at a 93 celebrity for $4500.

The cover he said he would replace is the one that buttons down over the cockpit area of the boat for when u want to store it. He also said he would take $200 off if they don't have to clean it. They said the unwinterized it and have had it for sale for the 2 past weeks.

The boat does come with a small cover that extends about a foot or so from the windshield to shade the first 2 seats.

Thanks again,

That would be the mooring cover that he is replacing, there should also be a bow cover and poles that support them both. I think I would try and get him to lower the price a little more, change the 6 to a 5.
