I am very familiar with bass boats, but we now have a cabin on Lake of the Ozarks and want to move up to a bow rider. Been doing a lot of looking at the ads and have found one that I think may be a fair deal. Haven't seen it in person yet, but thought I would ask this board for their opinion. Here is the ad and pictures (I hope they post):

1990 22-foot Searay Bow Rider. Has 5.7 Chevy Mercruiser motor with Alfa One outdrive, mirage stainless prop., perfect mechanical condition. Everything works (all gauges, blower, speedow, etc.). This boat is turnkey ready! Comes with Tandem axil trailer and snap on boat covers, which are also in great shape. Comes with all original manuals and documentation. Boat is on lift at the Lake of the Ozarks. Will demo. $6,950.

Seems the more I read the more concerned I get about any older boat what with soft spots, rot, etc. Been happy with my bass boat, but the family I think would have more fun with something a bit larger. Here are some pictures.

Nice looking boat. If it has had proper care it should be a good boat for you. All you can do is look and check, you may even want to invest in a survey, the people that do that know what to look for. If it has been kept dry the wood should be fine. I still like the lines of that era, to me they look better than some of the new ones out now.

Do your research first before you buy any boat. It really is all on how the previous owners have taken care of it. You now really take your time and go over every inch of the entire boat and take a sea trial. It is well worth the money to get a survey done. From the pics it look pretty nice. Interior is laid out alot like mine except we have a cc and not an ob. Hope it works out for you. I know we have been extremely happy with ours. Remember it is a buyer market out there now.

Thanks guys! And badkins, you are right, it is a buyers market. There are so many for sale you almost hate to jump on one because there may be a better deal just around the corner. But I know Sea Ray has a good reputation. I will give the guy a call and go have a look at this one.

seems a bit pricey, but if it's been in that boat shed it's whole life I don't think you'll have too much to worry about. Sea Rays are nice units

Boat markets vary geographically, but around here, if it's a nice boat, desirable configuration, priced right, it is gone by the time you call on it. If you have days to think about it, perhaps the appeal of that particular boat isn't universal.
$7,000 will buy you a 1997 or so this time of year.
