Anybody have any tips for me. I am planning on looking at a 1994 kawasaki 750 xi. Looks to be in good shape. Owner says it ran great last season and started right up this season but has not been out yet. He has owned it for about 4 years. Was bought so other family, he said parents, could join him when he is on his newer model.

It is $1250 on a trailer. Seems like a good deal and just want some opinions or tips on what to check out.

TIA

check for soft spots in the hull especially around the front of the intake grate,, see if the trim works also. 2 common issues

Ditto the above. Look inside at the hull, around the front metal piece that holds the fire extinguisher. Mine flexed a lot around that area, so much so that it eventually formed a 3' long split there. That's how I got it for free (from a relative).

Around the intake seems pretty stout to me. I always heard of them flexing too much in the front.

Oh, and my trim was missing - I guess it didn't work. It's locked in place to not move.

The other models, w/ the same hull and engine, don't have trim. You won't miss it much, but if it doesn't work, you might be able to talk down on the price.

This model (and most other Kawi's I've read about) start hard (after sitting a few days) since they have no primer. I have to remove the flame arrestors, squirt some 2-stroke mix down there, and she'll fire right up. After that, she'll start right immediately for the rest of the day.

We took mine out yesterday, might go again today. I clocked 44 on the GPS on mine. It's all stock, minus the aftermarket flame arrestors.

I also removed my oil injector. VERY easy to do, and runs fine on 50:1 mix. Before that was done, oil would pool at the bottom of the crankcase. When the crankcase valve was opened, oil would flow into the bottom of the hull. Seemed like something wasn't right there.

Oh, and my gauges work sporadically.

I ended up getting it for $1150. It is in very good shape. The trim doesn't work but for the price you can't beat it.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Thumpar let us know how it does in the water. I am curious mine porpoises real bad at high power settings.
