Hey Guys

I am having some issues with 77 7hp evinrude. Recently I have wanted to bring it out to see and let it sink.

But I wont just yet.. So i was telling a friend in work about my engine problem and he said his Dad had an old engine in the back garage which he wanted to get rid of.

It comes with control box and engine stand.

Its a 1977 70hp evinrude.

Was told it had no spark and owner did not have time to fix.

Compression was fine.
Trim is so so, he said one of the rams was leaking.

I have ordered the 1977 70hp to 75hp original service evinrude manual. I am treating the fault in my 75hp as a puzzle. Hopefully with the two motors I should be able to get one of them going.

I live in one of the most expensive places in the world so parts are expensive here. So getting this for $150 dollars is awesome , engine stand was a bonus.

With the spark issue, I would start simple and work toward hard. Do a spark test with a spark tester and work your way "upstream". Plugs, wires and so on until you find the problem. Test it all.

Sweet find for $150.

Those engines are all about tweaks and adjustments. When they are good, they are SUPER good. By the way, they LIKE RPM-DON't LUG them.

Assuming the carbs are clean and you have good compression (which you do). Carry on.

I struggled with 'Triple Loopers" for years until I found this website. Joe Reeves and others (do a search) will give you priceless information.
