Two oldtimer lifelong buddies from the Island always had a dream. They both are in their last days due to illnesses. They wanted a boat to learn on, then eventually buy a liveaboard. First boat was a 21' Cuddy. Their first trip out the ran hard aground about a mile from the marina. Tore up the lower unit and had it towed to the shop. While at the shop they discovered it will take a couple weeks for a replacement. They bought a second boat, a 26' Cuddy.
First trip out they hit the seawall doing some damage to the bow pulpit. No big deal, right? An hour goes by and they decide to return. They slammed into another boats anchor on a pulpit knocking out a side window on their boat. Bent the heck out of the railing on the pulpit.
While sitting on the dock smoking a cigarette and breathing through an oxygen tank. Inky (as we call him) let out a cough and into the drink went his upper false teeth. (I put on scuba gear and found them after 20 minutes). Next day Inky falls in the drink and I had to pull him out. He lost a couple hundred dollars cash floating away. A little cut up...but ok.
A week goes by and they buy a 36' Bluewater, houseboat looking thing. Inky is lying in the stern removing the old boat name. He roles of the transom into the drink again. Did I mention they like wine for breakfast. I pull him out again.
This story is not over. I will tell you the rest soon.
