Hello Everyone,
I'm new to boating (so forgive me if some of this makes no sence) and I have a Small Problem. I recently starting building my first boat and was able to purchase a 16' Fiberglass and an old Chrysler 20HP (from about 68 i think) Anyways It all runs great except as soon as i get enought speed to punch out the prop ends up outside the water. As long as I don't punch out of the water its fine but who wants to tutal along.

What i'm looking for is a longer leg. I've seen a few other chrysler log legs and seem to have an extender beween the lower unit and the shaft of the motor (can E-mail Pic) Anyways I don't want to sell the motor cause it runs beautifully and was wondering if anyone out there would have any ideas where i could get such a leg or adapter or what ever for this Motor at a reasonable price.

Thanks for your Time. :)

What is the height of your transom? That's important in determining the length of your engine . Too bad your engine isn't 35-55. I have a complete 20 inch extension I don't need, driveshaft, linkage and housing.

I recently bought a long shaft 55HP from ebay and did not need the extention. I have the extension the drive shaft and the extended shift linkage. If it will work on a 20 I can give it to you if you will pay the shipping.

Thank you both very much for your Quick reply.

Scotiany: my transom is about 30". the current prop is located just below the edge of the transom. It really needs another 5" to make it the long leg.

Eurolarva: I'm not if the 55HP kit will work with the 20, but I'm more than willing to give it a try. please e-mail me offline to arrange. mike@eclipsenet.ca

Thanks Again guys.

I checked the parts list for the 20 HP and the 45HP. The shafts are different part numbers and the water tube is different. Sounds like this will not work on your motor. Mine will work on 35HP, 45HP and 55Hp. Sorry. Sounds like you need a lower unit extension piece, a longer drive shaft and a new water tube.

Ebay has two long shaft chryslers for sale right now. Maybe what you need is a spare motor
