My 94 200 hp venom powerhead is shot. Everything else is good. I just bought a 94 225 hp ocean runner. Has good compression. The 20 has a 20" shaft and the 225 has a 25" shaft. I need to put the 225 on my Javelin but need to shorten the shaft or switch the mid sections. Just wondering how involved it is? I do have a jack plate and can only raise it up another 3". Wondering which option would be best?

Put the '94 225 powerhead on your motor. It's the same powerhead. You don't want a 25" engine on a bass boat even if you could make it work.

If either motor happens to be a C,M,R,S suffix model then it should have the quick removable air box. Later style adjustable carbs. Much better setup. Use them on the powerhead you end up using. Requires some changining of parts, but worth it. Compare in parts books.

Give us a complete model number for both motors. The powerheads will swap, just looking for the best options for you. Do either (or both) engines have the air box with quick thumb screw (2) take offs on the front? That would be vs the multiple screws around the edges of the air box.

Direct bolt up of powerhead. Slight difference in mid range jetting for 25" motor. You can swap to the STL carburetor assy. (not the float bowls) to simplify that problem. It's not a carburetor until it has throttle plates with it. 4 carburetors on this motor, not 6 as some think.
