long shaft too long?

I have a 20 inch shaft that is too long for my transom by about 4 inchs. What would be the best way to raise the motor. The motor is a 8hp nissan on a 14ft v-hull boat. Would a hydro-foil help to correct the bow from lifting? or, does anyone make a bracket that would work.

Welcome to iboats.

The best thing to do is get a short shaft engine.

Second best is a setback plate that can raise the engine 3 or4".
