Long Shaft to Short Shaft Conversion

I have a 1999 Force 5 HP that I purchased new. At that time, the unit was changed from a short shaft to a long shaft model as it fit the boat I had. Now, I need to change it back to a short shaft unit. Was there an extension put in at the time it was originally converted that I can remove myself?

Most likely you need to take out the extension housing, replace the drive shaft with a shorter one, replace the water tube with a shorter one, it then proberly has a shifter extension that you can remove. It can be done but is the cost of the parts worth it.

Don C............ Thanks for the informatiom! I'll have to give some thought if the cost of the parts would justify the conversion.
