Hi,<br /><br />I have a 1966 Evinrude 18 HP. Model number 18602cc499895. It looks to me to be a long shaft but I am not sure. Is there a certain way to tell for sure?<br /><br />Thanks, <br /><br />C.J
C.J.,<br /><br />You can measure the distance from the clamp bracket (the part that rests on the transom) to the cavitation plate (the plate above the prop).<br /><br />It should be close to 15" for short and 20" for long.
