long or short shaft

i have a 1973 johnson seahorse 25 that has a leg hight of 18" and my boat has a 20 " transom is this incorrect ??
my boat sits low in the water and seems to be ok should i be looking to cut the transom a few inches ????

for a 20" transom, you'll need the longer one - might sit low in the water at the dock, but not if it goes on plane
*Note distance from the lower suspension clamshells down to anti-vent plate - pretty obvious if the extension is in yours

18" kinda sounds like a short shaft but there's a million different places to measure from/to

Set the engine on the transom and look at the cavation plate, should be even or slightly above the bottom of the boat.

i will take photos tomorrow but "slightly" a inch a couple of inches from my measurement the plate is going to be 2 inches higher
