Been thinking about putting a scope on my mint mint mint mosin-nagent m44.Has a straight bolt which I'm not willing to bend,so that leave one option a long eye relief scope and mount. My question is has anybody used one, whats it like ,is it a pain or good?

if you "shoot" with both eyes open, its ok, 1 eye closed, a real pain, especially as the magnification power goes up, Have you thought of a "side mount" for the scope, a little different but worked better for me.

Another option might be the Hi-Rise scope mounts and rings ... it might get the scope high enough for the bolt and you still have the option of using the open sights ...

What about an offset scope? I've got one on a rifle my great grandfather owned. The newer ones are done much more nicely.

I don't have any experience with the long eye models.
