Great video. From what i can tell he is running on muffs with the throttles pegged!

He might have it on a dyne, but I doubt it.

Sounds like there is load on it, I'd bet it is a prop dyno run. If it were free running it would either be bouncing off the rev limiter or it would be floating valves. Either would be readily apparent in the noise.

That is a Formula dashboard (31 PC) . . . so how/why would it be on a test bench or dyno . . . Seems like it is in the water.

If it were just on a test bench, it would easily over rev. . .

All the dashboard indicators would be the same if its on a prop shaft dyno. Something like this...

Now that I think about it, it has to be under load. There is no way it could do that revving in neutral.

Has to be somewhere other than a dyno. There can't be very many side-bi-side dynos laying around to test twins.

Why do you think it's in the driveway? Maybe it's in the water, on a smooth lake. Listen to the background sounds and watch the lighting on the dash.

I think it is on the water . . . see the camera bouncing every so often . . . probably waves or wakes . . .

The good news is that the engines reached their specified WOT RPM . . .

I vote a dyno run.

At 0:01 to 0:02 you can see a blue tarp above the dash that has no motion in it.
To the right of the tarp, there is a pole not too far in the distance that is not moving relative to the dash.

At 0:27 what looks like the speedometer comes into view on the left.
You can see as far down as 35mph for a moment without any needle in the picture.
A Formula 34 with twin 7.4MPI's and it can't make 35mph at WOT. ??? Dyno Run!

Besides, if it were an in the water run, Who would be bragging about the RPM's without including the Speed?
Unless it was tied to the pier.

4200rpm and WOT makes even more sense if it was tied down.
4800rpm would make more sense actual running.
We'll never know!

not sure why it even matters, but I vote test ride-

- That tarp may not be a tarp. And even if it is, maybe for the test it was easier to leave it be-

- The camera, which is a phone camera, is moving too much to be shooting video in a boat that's sitting still-

- It's obviously an older boat, the speedo may not even work-

- A dyno to run twins at the same time? I've never heard of one, and it's not necessary anyway-

- It's not stationary in the water (like a test tank) or the revs would never get past the low to mid 3000's.

This is 'fun' detective work . . .

The blue thing at the beginning of the video looks like the sunning pads that larger cruisers have out on their bow.

Maybe we can send a message to the video poster and find out more about the situation, etc. :noidea:

Look at the reflection in the gauge, appears to be the boats wake/spray behind it. The blue "tarp" I think is a helm cover they folded up behind the windshield. The pole at the beginning does not appear to be moving, but things on the water can do that if they are positioned right. I think it's a water run.
