Johnson made thousands of 10HP outboards, but that is not one of them. They stopped that in 1963.

Wonder if he really re-decalled a 15HP. That could well be true.

It's probably a 15 hp. and changed the decals to look like a 9.9
hp. We do this a lot so we don't have to register are small boats.

Maybe he meant that a 9.9 is really 10 horsepower? But those are added-on stickers.

Mercury made a line of motors where the model number was the HP with an extra 0. You should have read/heard comments when I said I put a Merc 200 on my 13' Whaler!

BTW in some states it's illegal to obscure the HP decals, which technically includes painting your motor for duck hunting.

This is a 14 foot fiberglass boat with a 10 HP engine. The engine reads 9.9 HP because we took it in a lake that had a stupid rule of "under 10 HP" for the lake, so we went to the depot and replaced the decals. It comes with everything and we will not sell parts separately (not just engine or anything like that). The trailer is in working condition. Please call to discuss. Must sell ASAP. Registration and stuff is available.

I am pretty sure you can recarb that 9.9 back up to 10hp instead of taking all the time to try to find new stickers.
