We just came back to the dock.I hopped out of the boat, got my car and backed it down the ramp, hopped out and got the boat on the trailer, then got back to the car only to find out that I accidentally locked the car.So here I am standing next to my car which runs with people wanting to launch and I'm not going anywhere.Lucky for me the dock attendant came up with slim jims.He told me that this happens all the time.

Re: locked out of car

That's one of the reasons I always roll my windows down when I launch my boat. I also use a hide-a-keyfor the truck. There are no attendants where I launch.

I too always roll down the windows prior to getting out to hook up the boat.

I always roll down the windows,(incase it goes in you can get out quicker)
besides here in Ohio I think it is also illegal to have any body besides the driver in the truck when loading or unloading.
if any body knows for sure about ohio let me know

Re: locked out of car

no harm in leaving a window cracked a bit. unless your living in a high crime area.

my windows are open pretty much any time i'm in the car. regardless of how short of a drive it might be. its pretty much habit for me now, regardless of weather conditions. get in, start the engine, put down windows, put on seat belt, and drive off. not claustrophobic or anything, i just like the fresh air blowing in.

Spare boat key on the car keys and spare car key on the boat keys, windows open as said above. So far so good.
