Livingston cavitation?

Well I got my boat to plane by adjusting my weight forward more. I'm doing about 15mph via gps on a 10' Livingston with an 8hp evinrude 2 stroke short shaft. My question is any of you Livingston guys notice cavitation problems? Also what corrected the problem? At first it felt like my motor was missing but then I could here it rev up. I'm trimmed in to the first hole. This is the only setting I've been able to plane one with the nose just pointing straight in the air. The prop will cavitate wither on plane or not.

Re: Livingston cavitation?

If your prop is VENTILATING, It needs to be set deeper in the water.
The Anti-Ventilation (AV) Plate should be just skimming the surface if the water.
Lower the engine.

I have an LV 19 w/ 115 yamaha 4 stk. I do experience cavitation when accelerating. To eliminate it i do a quick s-turn while accelerating to redirect the water flow between the hulls. It seems to work.
