Took the boat out and I noticed the livewell pump wouldn't turn off. It was a brand new switch that shorted out... Well I thought I had it, but I guess not, After about 10 minutes on the water, I heard water. The water was overflowing the top of the livewell and going to the back, the bilge pump was then pumping it out... But the livewell overflow you think...... Come to find out it was stopped up. Sure wish I would have checked that before I took the boat out.

So I cut my trip short and pull the boat home. Stupid me didn't think about pulling the fuse and continuing fishing till I got home...

Oh well, the overflow isn't stopped up anymore.

Re: Livewell Pump Oops

i did something similar.

i just copied it from my other post............. now take into account it was december when this happened----------

ive already joined the club and confessed my ignorance on a different thread, but i got one for ya i did the other day.

i bought a new bilge pump and during installation i disconnected the hose on the pump for the live well......yep worked great. i even got the water hose and put water in the boat and tried the bilge pump at home.........and didnt reconnect the live well hose.

it was 6:25 in the morning and we were putting along waiting for a little better light and getting a little further out of the cove before we jumped up on plane-----hit the gas and she stood up and just stayed there. i told my bud check and see if we are takin on water he says "holly s*** theres about 16" of water in there.

so i tell him take the wheel and dont let off the gas. i hit the switch for the bilge pump open the front hatch to get a spare plug, since the other one is in the dark bilge--6:25 in the morning-- htat is full of water. now spare plug in hand and half in and half out of the back of the boat and the plug is in.....what the ******* ***** ***** *****.

so we circle around back to the dock. make a quick drive by the dock while my bud jumped off the boat, tryin not to hit the 40 deg water. so im tryin to keep the boat movin so i dont sink.

we finally get the boat out of the water, reach down to pull the plug and water is pourin out of the l/w pump..........got all the waterr drained out and there it was plain as day-----hose layin right beside the pump.

what a dumb a**..........we lost about 45 min and almost didnt catch any shad!
