OK guys this may sound dumb, but hey I am a newbie so.... How do you get the livewell to fill, when I took the boat out I played with the toys including the livewell and aeroater, but the livewell would only fill to how ever low the boat was in the water, about 6 inches of water or so. It has one line coming from the back of the boat with 2 shut off valves one in the line coming from low on the transom and one in the livewell. It has an aerater that will either pump the water to some plastic line that shoots streams into the water or will pump it out a different line out the bac of the transom. How do I get more water in it and whats the best way to keep the fish living, basically how does this thing work? Man I didn't realize fishing could become so much work. LOL Just kidding, this boat is gonna get me where the fish are, I hope.

Matt

You should have a plastic pipe -a stand pipe-- that stands up in the drain hole. If you have a 10" pipe, the water will fill to that level, then overflow down the pipe and drain. You should be able to get a pvc pipe at any hardware store, just make sure its the same size as the drain.

And don't make it 2 feet tall. :p :p

Roscoe is right. Sounds like you are missing the standpipe that fits in your drain. I have a couple , of different lengths so I can adjust water depth as the need arises. The key to keeping fish alive is to circulate the water to keep it oxygenated. Some of the pro fishermen I know clip weights (the clip on ones used for checking depth) to the fins to keep the fish upright in the well.Your decription leaves me a little confused. You should have two separate lines to/from the well. A lower drain pipe that extends to the bottom of the transom and a "fill" pipe that connects to a pump located in the transom. It almost sounds like you have a valve on the lower drain pipe to shut it off thus allowing the well to fill. Not a great idea because then it is hard to circulate the water without opening the valve and if the pump is inadvertently forgotten on or turned on by mistake it can overflow the well. The valve on the fill pipe if it is located near the spray attachment generally allows the well to fill via stream or spray

Re: Live well question

OK guys now we are making sense, I thought that there should be a standpipe somewhere, now I know there should be. I am going to try and describe a little better how this thing is set up and maybe try and post some pics tonight after I get home. There is a shut off in the drain back at the rear of the boat and also one where it comes into the livewell but no standpipe, it has an aerater pump that is attached to the bottom of the livewell with a hose coming up to a T with a valve in it, there are plastic tubes coming out both sides one goes to a tube that goes out the back of the transom and the other to plastic tubes with holes that sprays water into the top of the water. I think if I add the standpipe and let it gravity fill and use the pump to either pump water out or just aerate I should be OK what do you think, Like I said I think the big problem is no standpipe. Thanks again

Matt

It could be your fill drain is sticking open. Please read rule #13 in the posting guidelines.
