I bought my 1997 Stratos used and have yet to fully understand the live well functions. I have 2 separate live wells and each has an "open" and "closed" position.

The port side keeps water in it after loading on the trailer in the "open" postion and the starboard is just the opposite.

I guess I just need to get the garden hose out and fill them up to find out what's really open and closed.

Re: LIve well question

I like to label switches so that there is no question on the first trip out each Spring. However, I have yet to find the ideal labeling solution...maybe it will be waterproof printer paper...?

somebody probably doctored with it before you and got the wiring on the switch backward on the port side. Those are the pump out switch you're talking about right?

Gonefisihie: I'm really not sure if it's a pump out or just a drain.
Bayman: I find those plastic peel off label makers are good for labeling boat stuff.
Thanks guys.(or girls) if that offended either sex!!

These are drain valves. In the open position, water can enter thru hoses but will also drain out when out of water or when you are running. Use closed position to keep water in livewell when trailering with fish or to keep livewell from draining out while underway. If in closed position you need to run aereator pump. One of yours is somehow hooked up backwards because it should drain in "open". Good luck
Bob

north40 is right about the positions. I always close mine before I ever put it in the water.

We use a Dymo labeler here at work on snow equipment, and we have never had one peel off yet. The new type labelers are print nice too!

Re: LIve well question

I just used a label printer and stuck open and closed over the levers. On mine the valves are in the back. One of them may be on backwords. Still will work just will work different then the other one. You should be able to take it off and turn it around to get them both working the same.

Re: LIve well question

Hey, I have a 1991 290 Fish and Ski that I bought used. I cannot get the livewell in the front to fill. When I try the push to the open position if won't open. The livewell in the stern works fine. Any suggestions?
