it was funny i had a design in my head and i started in on it. Fought me for about two weeks finally i said some choice words, grabbed a beer and a new slab and let the parts talk to me for about an hour / three beers.

Had the thing cut and assembled in about two hours after that. Then a week or so to finish.

I like to watch home milling on the different types of wood mills available on the market on YouTube when they take huge logs and cut them up. There are days I wish I had such a milling capability. I see so many quality soft woods and hard woods going to the land fill instead of being used for all types of projects. Amazing to me how much wood we waste daily that took years to grow... Nice project by the way.

Nice work Joe.

You should swing by Scroungers Paradise in NC sometime.

Lots of interesting, odd and really nice wood selection. Thick huge slabs down to cutting board size pieces..

And by thick, huge slabs I mean 6in thick 10ft X 40ft slabs. Massive and impressive. All South American exotics...

They are on the book of faces.....

jbcurt too rich for my blood, i got the hole pine log 21-24" x 100 for $200, cut to my spec

I think i'll start a thread on my next one. Will be epoxy or really cool or just cool. we haven't talked yet over some beers...

But the wife, who recently told me we were getting a bit too industrial in the house, suddenly asked me for a bookshelf for her office and a side table for the sunroom loveseat. I can't win....

Humbling. I consider myself adept at most things, maybe accomplished at a few others. But this is out of my league.

Absolutely not, thats why i do it. Flaws, natures or mine, are part of it. I only have to be ok at it. Like 'rustic' food. Throw a bunch of crap not evenly cut up cook until chewable and call it rustic.

the only think i claim to be good at is design but as i said you must have a conversation with the wood first.
