So I drain the outdrive today. About 2 table spoons of water came out.. I was expecting to have this problem, from what was told by the previous owner.. He thought it was leaking at the bearing carrier. Which I have yet to see.. I know I need to rig up someway to pressure test the sucker..
Anyhow I also wanted to take a look at the impeller.. I was impressed with the design.. So easy to inspect it.. Impeller looks new, but I find gear lube in there.. Not a lot but a noticeable amount..
So this i what I am thinking.. Is it leaking past the seals and/or the gasket on the impeller shaft? What yall think?

Yes there are seals behind the water pump adapter plate.
If ANY gear lube at all is in the impeller housing you have a leak.

Usually the shaft that turns the impeller gets worn down with the seals and will have a slight groove in it.

This is the adapter plate and they can be a pain to get out.It also has a large O-ring that seals around it.

I also have this vacuum and pressure tester,it works very well.

nice looking tool.. I was thinking of making one but hit the verdict of how to connect it.. Well good thing the season is almost over..If there is a groove worn it to the shaft, that seems to be a issue... Can u put in a speed sleeve or what?

Usually the new seals will fix it.
On my old Cobra the shaft was worn but the new seals and adapter plate fixed the leak.
I bought that pressure tester just to be sure and it held 14 psi over night.
I used the boat for 2 years after that without any problems.
