Sorry to digress from the discussions of the day but I had an experience I wanted to share.

I was out with my wife this weekend in the boat and we had tied up at a pier to get out and stretch our legs. When we came back, there was this five year old boy and his grandma standing there next to the boat. In his hands was a "Boat Shopper" magazine and he was looking at a boat similar to mine. Grandma says he carried that magazine with him everywhere. Well, we started talking to him and found out that he wants to get a boat when he gets "Bigger". Nostalgia kind of set in so we asked him if he wanted to go for a ride, with grandma, of coarse! I haven't seen a little tyke smile so wide in a long time. Come to find out he had never really been a boat except for the ones at the theme parks. Anyways, we took him for a slow ride along the shore, past his grandpa and his younger brother who were way out at the end of the pier watching the fishermen. It was only a 5 minute ride, but man was he excited. Grandpa and his 2 yr old brother were on the dock when we pulled back in. Well, I tell ya, I've never seen a happier kid in my life as I did on Saturday. From the look on his face, I'd planted the seed in a new generation of future Boaters. I too went away smiling.

Here's to you Jeremy, may you grow up and join the fraternity of those who love the water....

Nav

And here's to you, Navigator, for wakening dreams in a future boater. May you always have. . .

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

I have four children ranging from 3 to 16 years. Start them young and they not only enjoy the water, but they learn to respect it. they appreciate it's dangers.

It never ceases to amaze me how fool hardy new boaters can be.

Way to go Navigator I actually got that good tingly feeling from reading that! Nothing like putting a smile on a kids face and giving him something special he will always remember. :)
