Little adjustment above propeller

Hi,
My 40hp tohatsu has a little fin adjustment just above the propeller, it appears to be set about 60 degrees from the center.
On the weekend I noticed that when the boat picks up speed about 20mph, it pulls to one side and you have to steer the otherway to bring it back on track before it pulls again to one side. I'm guessing that this little adjustment above the propeller has something to do with it. Is there anyway of knowing what it should adjusted to, should it be this much off center?? also what is the best way to get this adjustment right?

Thanx.

Re: Little adjustment above propeller

It is adjustable for a very good reason, to compensate for torque steer.

Adjusting it is simple but may take a few tries before you are tracking true.

Loosen the bolt, turn the trailing edge of the fin in the direction of the pull. Water test. Readjust. Water test.

Keeps doing that until the boat travels straight at 20KPH.
