OK, long story short: Recently acquired a significantly heavier vessel with bunks on the trailer (previous trailer had rollers). Found loading to be a royal PITA as my favorite launches prohibit power loading. Prior to investing in a power winch, I opted to try one of the "lubes" that touted to be my solution! Thank goodness I had not removed the safety chain from the bow eye on the next launch! The moment my trailer hit the inclined ramp, the boat started to launch itself. Once the trailer was in place, I pushed the boat off with one finger. And getting it on the trailer those last four or five feet was a breeze! I have launched a dozen times and the bunks are still "slick as owl..."

BEWARE...this stuff works!!!!!!

I would never unhook my boat before heading down a ramp. I know people do it, but I would rather get my feet wet than ever worry about it!

I use Teflon bunk glides. They're nice.

I'm not familiar with those products. Do you put it on after launching while your bunks are wet or do they have to be dry?

one thing i do is make sure i have positive control of the boat everytime i launch.....safety chain is the last thing to come unhooked.....and that is when the boat is in the water floating.

i am 3500 lbs at 25 feet.....it can be a real pain with shallower launches.....i might try it

unhooking your boat, even with dry bunks, should be 100% illegal and worthy of a fine.

Yes, 99.999% of the time you will be fine. The one time you are backing just a little too fast, and a kid run behind you, things could get ugly fast. You slam on the truck brakes, truck stops, trailer stops, boat continues long enough to fall onto the kid, now under your keel... Pure laziness, no good reason to have it unhooked until the boat is touching water.

I just use regular silicone lube spray on my bunks--it works well and anything for sale with "boat" in the name is going to be $$$.

I've been told also that armorall products will provide the same treatment at a much lower cost. Might try that next time as, yes, the Liquid Rollers is pricey! And to all who commented on keeping things attached down the ramp, yes, I have corrected my pre-launch routine.
