I am looking at the liquid force trip wakeboard with the index binders combo. I haven't done it before and need a board that I wouldn't outgrow within a couple years. Are liquid force boards good boards? Any help and advice is appreciated.

Liquid force has some generic entry level boards, and then some upper end boards. Obviously your gonna get what you pay for. One thing I may suggest is that you find a board that doesn't have molded in fins, which that board has. I would suggest a board that has removeable and adjustable fins because when you progress, and start to use the edge of the board for cutting, they may hinder your progression. But for learning they are great because the keep the board pretty stable.

I myself ride a CWB KINK 140cm ( hybrid/subtle 3 stage rocker) and CWB Answer Closed toe bindings. ($~400).

then my generic board I have people who want to try wake boarding is one of the cheap $160 boards off the iboats store with continuous rocker.

The Trip was a pro model when it first came out but that was a long time ago (I think late 90's). It hasn't changed much since it first came out. Board technology has progressed since then so the Trip's design is a little dated, but they still sell the Trip for a reason. It's a solid continuous rocker board. My cousin recently got a new board to replace his ancient Trip. After riding several boards, what did he get? A new Trip. A Trip might not give you some of the advantages a new board has but it won't hold you back any. If you end up preferring continuous rockers, you may never "outgrow" it.

I think the Trip is a good board and Liquid Force makes nice stuff. You will be able to use that board for a few years, no problem.

I know a few that still ride the Trip. There are newer technologies, but they ay nto end up being your preference. You need to learn to ride, and then worry about finding the board that really makes you happy. What is important is you get somethign that won't fall apart before you get to the stage where you can tell a difference in the ride... any liquid force board should take care of that.

i've got a liquid force board and IIRC the index bindings. very happy with the combo. if you are ordering online it may help to know that the size of the bindings seemed to run a bit small.

After doing lots of research last year for my first board, I ended up getting a LF Trip. I have no plans to get a new one any time soon. I went with CT bindings.

Re: Liquid Force Trip?

Just got that board, I'm a novice, used it for the first time last week, my son said I looked great on it, and it felt solid, and it looks cool. It may be older technology, but I'm no where near the skill level for something really advanced anyway.

My son always thinks that having the best/advanced equipment will make him a pro instantly, but he always struggles learning (wakeboarding, snowboarding), as he's still a novice. He also thinks that using the removable fins only creates bad habits when learning, so beginners should not use them. It's like learning to ride a dirtbike using a CR500. Kids...

I bought one on clearance from Evogear.com to see why everyone seems to like them.

I haven't rode it yet, but plan to this weekend. I have CWB answer bindings on it.

Depending on the board design, it is actually like training wheels on a bike and some boards should have the removed as soon as you can comfortably stand and carve.

It does teach bad edging techniques because you don't truely have to edge.
