Liquid electric tape on trailer light wires?

Hello Everyone

I'm new to boating and I had to rewire my boat trailer. I used that liquid electrical tape and completely covered my splices with it. Is that enough to keep salt water out? Also I bought some stuff called Gunk Silicone spray and it says it has high dielectric characteristics and is waterproof and rustproof would that work too on electric connections?

Liquid Electrical tape should be adequate.

A dielectric compund is used to create an electrical barrier, so I wouldn't use it on the raw connection. It can be used on high voltage circuits to prevent arc in humid, damp environments.

To be safe, i always use the heat-shrink butt connectors AND the liquid electrical tape. If you want to get really crazy, smear it all with grease when it dries. Most important, rinse everything off after getting her wet with a good soap and then spray it down with a protectant like T9 or WD-40
