link and sync question.....

My seloc manual states that the reference timing mark for the link and sync procedure on my 1987 mercury 25hp( serial OB213279) is on the manual starter housing but there is no illustration to show it. When looking at the starter housing I can see a casting mark on each side of the housing at approximately the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions when looking straight down on the unit. Are one of these the timing mark ? My starter is identified as the type "c" manual starter.
Thanks for any and all help here.

Re: link and sync question.....

There is a line on the starter housing just to the rear of the starboard front mount leg that should be the mark, to ck it simply find TDC on #1 with a screwdriver in ck the marks on the flywheel and housing

Thanks Laddies ,
The line you refer too is what I was calling the casting mark. There happens to be one on the port side as well , thats why I was uncertain if this was the correct mark.
Thanks for the input !
