Lightweight OMC 25HP - What years?

Hi all,

I stumbled upon a nice 25HP Johnson (J25TEEIE) that surprised me at only 115lbs in weight. Does anyone know the date range of these lightweight motors? I'd like to scout out another, and it would help immensely if I knew what years to focus on..

Oh, and am I also able to look for a 30 (are they sister motors)?

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the info. I was initially thrown because I had a look at a late 70's 20HP Seahorse that was really heavy, seemed like over 150lbs, so I thought that the 25's would be even heavier..

Not sure what 20hp you're looking at but they're either the same weight (late model 33.1 cube ones were built on same chassis as the 25) or lighter yet (older 22-cube ones were simply smaller, weighed less than 100 lbs.).

I don't have the info anymore, I wish I did. But I run a 9.9 and it seems like 70lbs or so, and the 20 I picked up was Heeeeeaaavy. Big square cowling and a non-through hub exhaust.

The one I'm looking at now looks to be a smaller cowling and just looks lighter. The guy says it's 75lbs but I have to think that the other reports I've seen of this motor being 115 or so are likely more accurate.
