i just bought a new bunk trailer for my boat. I'm looking for led lights to attach to the bunks so at night time the wife can see where the bunks are when she's loading the boat onto the trailer. The lights would have to be able to handle the occ brackish waters but mainly fresh water

Submersible taillights, or marker lights/taillights on side posts/guides at the back of the trailer should do the job. Just aim for the middle.

Get submersible LED trailer lights and leave your lights on when retrieving at night. You already have two sets of lights to aim for... just use water proof connectors if you install new lights.

Your wife is in charge of loading the boat onto the trailer? What is your task?

I agree the easiest solution would be to have pylons on the back of the trailer with a set of submersible trailer lights on them. Or easier still an auxiliary work light mounted low on the back of the tow vehicle to illuminate the trailer without blinding the boat driver. That way you don't have to worry about shorting any trailer lights. That would also be helpful for hooking and dropping the trailer in the dark.

I have 5 led's down each side of my trailer, led tail lights, and a 3 light led ID bar across the center..... The bunks are SUPER easy to see even in the muddy ohio river because they are two 16' dark strips in the glowing water.... looks like a runway loading at night

truely a great idea!! you could counter sink leds into the tops of the bunks, run the wires under the bunks....wow there are soo many ideas to this!!!

My wife also launches and loads the boat. she has had many years of practice and is quite good at it. she would rather do that than back the trailer down!

wouldn't reflector tape do the trick? I don't like having anything on under water and the less wiring the better--but that's a salt water perspective.
But if I were rigging a light system, I would put the auxilaries on a seperate circuit so when there's a failure, you are not shut down. If you are pulling up at night, you need your brake lights to get home.
Having just wasted a Saturday on the d things, I say less is better. And unplugging the lights before getting inthe water is a religion around here.

You can use led waterproof light strips down the sides of the bunks if you wanted to, the resin incased ones.

This dosent sound like a bad idea. Chaseing LED lights on the bunks would be a neat. If you do this get some pics for us.

How about something really simple....a bow-mounted docking light...maybe switched at the console?

if there's a consistent theme in iboats, it's over-engineering and over-thinking. It's a lot worse during the winter when there's too much thinking and not enough boating. Duck hunters on a slow day are the same way. Let's get on the water and do some more boating and less fixing!

When the fish aint bitin’, what else ya gonna do?
I wonder if you could put a couple beam splitters, a green laser and some lenses to elongate the beam, on the trailer post aimed at the bunks? Get some glowing lines in the water and on the bunks….
