I have a 04 Merc 4 stroke. I had a close hit by lightning and now tac won't work. I bought a new tac and hooked it up the same as old one. My charging system seems to be working fine.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Lightning hit

You might get better answers if you posted what motor it is. Could be anything from 4 hp to 225 hp.

I have a 04 Merc 90 horse 4 stroke. I had a close hit by lightning and now tac won't work. I bought a new tac and hooked it up the same as old one. My charging system seems to be working fine. It is on a 04 Tracker Regency 22' pontoon. I have done a trace of wiring as best I can but must be missing something

So what might be the problem ?????
Thanks for any help.

Sorry, I couldn't help joining the bullies.

Seriously, have you verified that 12V and ground are present at the tachometer with the key on?

Where does the tachometer get it's signal on that engine?

hope it helps

Thats ok they are everywhere
I know it is getting power as the light works if that is relevant
I have no clue where it gets its signal. Guess I will have to check with a mechanic

As a matter of fact, it is not relevant. The lights get power from a different circuit than the instrument part of it. Check for power at the power terminal with a test light or a meter. The power terminal would likely have a purple wire on it.

hope it helps
