My question is,how does one in the Gulf of Mexico, protect one's boat and ones self from lightning strikes on the water.NO .... I've never been one to play with metal rods in storms but if it happens, what can be done to protect,or help protect your boat, electronics, gas tanks,ect...from sending you to the next great boat ride in the sky. Say you are out 25 miles, you see it coming (as I have thousands of times.) usally on land, yes,I know to head for shore, but in a Bonding,Dissapation,Strike type sense, are there new methods, equipment, ways to wire, bond or help to prevent this from being a real BIG hazard to boaters, especialy in the GOM?Or am I just paranoid after surviving a strike once in my life already.Rebuilding a 25' sportfisher/cruiser and don't want to be "power charged" again, especialy out on water!!!!!! PS I was on land w/ no clouds in the sky around P'cola FL.when it taugh me a lesson about RESPECT !
