I have been reading the forums and can't seem to find step by step on how to remove a large outboard motor. I was hoping that someone would be willing to spoon feed me info so I don't end up hurting my self. I have a 1992 Yamaha 115. I need to lift it all the way off the boat to repair this monstrosity of a transom rebuild job (I didn't do it).
I just bought this boat and had it parked at my dock over night and by morning it had sunk 4 inches. When I pulled it out of the water I noted water coming from the bolts the holds the tilt and trim and from the base of the transom.
There is three main things I would like to know
A) Is this my lifting point? I will be using a come-along to do the lifting.
B) Do I just start detaching lines from the motor, do I need to cap them off or do I just unhook and let hang until I'm ready to hook them back up?
C) If the lines are still good do I just hook them back up and they are ready to go or is there steps I need to take before they will be working again?
Any and all information will be welcome since I have no clue what I'm doing
