Lift OR Floating Dock

I’m a first time boat buyer — looking at a 27 ft outboard.
I’m on a canal off the bay so salt water and waves. Wondering if I should get a lift or a flaring dock in my backyard? The slip in the picture attached is where I’ll be docking.

Considerations are cost and convenience (summer and winter).
Thanks
A

Gee, that looks like it is pretty protected from waves. Waves are all you should really care about, and what a lift removes you from. You can tie the boat off on 4 corners, using snubbers and perhaps mooring whips (if you need them). You can face the bow out to cut the waves as well.

Putting a 27 footer on a lift will be a drag, if you have any wind or waves.

If salt water bothers you, flush the motors. Antifouling paint is not much of an issue, IMO.

Thanks dingbat!
Any more color as to the reason
Two primary reasons…no bottom paint to deal with and the weather/tides, but let’s start with what Bay are we talking about and what direction is that facing?

Local flood stage?

You say protected but what is its proximity /orientation to open water? Surges are amplified in closed in areas

How far to the closet boat ramp?
