Can anyone provide advice on repairing a cracked Lexan windshiel? Heat and boatcover stress developed a crack and I would like to repair it for safety as well as cosmetic reasons. Any and all information/advice appreciated.

Thanks
Herman

Contact the mfgr. of the boat and buy a new windshield..
If it's not an original equipment windshield try cabellas or overtons as they carry some universal replacements...

if it's a straight piece, you can buy a new piece
from most hardware stores. most widshields are riveted, so you'll have to drill it out then use
ss screws to put it back together.
this stuff is a pain to cut, a rotozip works good
but would ask the home center/glass shop to cut it for you if they can.
good luck,
M.Y.

Howdy, Herm.

I don't know if this would work with Lexan, but I have used it to weld Plexiglass for years.

Hypo needle with acetone. Squirt it in small quantities on one edge of the crack and let capillary action draw it into the crack. In Plexiglass it leaves an invisible weld.

Good luck. :)

There is also a "plastic Weld" epoxy on the market that works great but you can not see through it. The up side is if it is the mounting points that have cracked it will work.

Bob
