Let's talk the Merc 115efi vs F115

This is NOT about the current L4NA Verado-based 115efi. I am talking about the previous version, sometimes referred to by the nickname "Mercaha":

We already know the powerhead is Yamaha and the lower unit is Merc. Aside from those differences, is the powerhead, fuel system, heads, valve train, electrical system, etc. the exact same as an F115 Yamama?

i have a 2005 115 4 stroke merc efi salt water...i was told just what u said from the dealer...yamaha power head merc rest...i've never seen under the cover of the yamaha, so i cant tell u they look the same....if it is true, mercury did a good job putting there name on all the inside covers!! if no one told me i'd say its merc all the way

Yeah, but lots of what we intially "see" under the cowels is all the plastic from the various covers, shrouds, etc. Peel that stuff away down to the powerhead and I assume our engines are 100% identical to an F115.
