GASOLINE SOLUTION!

We CAN buy gasoline that's not from Middle East. Why didn't George W. think of this?
Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it. It might even be good for us! The Saudis are boycotting American
goods. We should return the favor. An interesting thought is to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money
into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.

Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the
tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends. I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil (for the period 9/1/01 - 8/31/02):

Shell...............205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco......144,332,000 barrels Exxon
/Mobil..............130,082,000 barrels Marathon/Speedway...117,740,000
barrels Amoco.......62,231,000 barrels
If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION!
Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
Citgo....................0 barrels

Sunoco...... ..0 barrels

Conoco............. ..0 barrels

Sinclair............... 0 barrels

BP/Phillips.......... 0 barrels

Hess...................0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and
each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are
importing. They report on a monthly basis. Keep this list in your car; share
it with friends. Stop paying for terrorism.............

That's an interesting tidbit. And, if those numbers are correct I haven't been cotributing to the Saudi market as we buy most of our gas from Citgo. :D

All this kind of makes you wonder exactly how bad using slightly radioactive gas would be for the environment. Thanks for the info but you also need to look at where a company buys it's "Local" gas/oil several of the smaller names actually purchase bulk amounts of it from the bigger companies or perhaps a company that imports it just to refine and sell it.

I'm confused about one thing. You say we had gas rationing in the 80's. Well not where I live. I burned up more gas in the 80's than any other time in my life and never had to worry about where to get it.

I don't think I want any president telling me I can't buy and use gas, or any other legal product.

Re: Let's buy the right gas!!!!!

Something that I heard the other day was that the Alaskan pipeline oil is sent/sold to Japan. Is this true?

The past 100 years or so we have gone from horse power, hydro power, steam power, petroleum power, and nuclear power. The technology is there now to get off the oil. Why we don't get off the oil? Because too many people just don't want to get rich, but they want to get stinky filthy rich.

Example is the Hybrid cars. If they were priced the same or lower, they would be sold. But with the auto manufactures adding all the bells and whistles to the new models, no wonder electric/optional fuel cars are going to have trouble competeing with the gas powered cars.

Since the technology is here and being developed, lets go ahead now and open our own oil reserves. What good is it going to do us if the oil becomes obsolete in the future. We will have all this oil in the ground that we could have used up to prevent the situation in the mid east. But NO! lets keep it just in case we need it in the future. Well the future is here, lets use it, and stop sending our money to those Towel Heads.

If others feel the way I do (dazed and confused), sending gobs of money out of the country for others to use while my paycheck is used to support the idiots that is creating the problem. Taxes anymore is like Child Support, the more you make the more they take.

Anymore I'm tired of trying to make more money, I end up being more sore, tired, and making me feel older than I should be just to increase my spending money. Well I'm too tired to spend the money anyway, so I'm doing less, spending less, and feeling better. Not smoking anymore has helped big time. (maybe that is why I'm feeling better) :D WOWser its true! I'm spending less and feeling better!? I better be quiet before Gov Taft finds out, he is already trying to raise the cig tax again because its not bringing enough money in. (Could it be one of those situations people is quitting, and or buying their cigs somewhere else causing a decline in cig sales?) So he is trying to get a "FUN" tax started in Ohio now to compensate for the lose in revenue in cig sales.

I've said enuff, at least for now.......SS

Yes SS MAYFLOAT, once you get off the smokes you do feel better and fiestier
I heard somewhere the other day about .40 tax per pack.
That is because the big tobacco companys want more because they are paying the farmers more I think.
I don't know, but I do know that some people will pay for them whatever the cost, but it will also cause some to quit and thats a good thing. :)

Thought you would like to know. This information is from the department of energy. I have included a link to the page below so you can verify the information is not made up.

Top World Oil Producers, 2001
Country Total Oil Production
(million barrels per day)

1) United States 9.02
2) Saudi Arabia 8.73
3) Russia 7.29
4) Iran 3.82
5) Mexico 3.59
6) Norway 3.41
7) China 3.30
8) Venezuela 3.07
9) Canada 2.80
10) United Kingdom 2.59
11) Iraq 2.45
12) United Arab Emirates 2.42
13) Nigeria 2.26
14) Kuwait 2.15

http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/cabs/nonopec.html#TO****

COMPANY OIL IMPORT VOLUME 2001
THOUSANDS OF BARRELS)

1) MOTIVA ENTERPRISES LLC 201415
2) VALERO MKTG & SUPPLY CO 146760
3) CHEVRON CORP 140463
4) MARATHON ASHLAND PETRO LLC 109433
5) EXXON CO USA 103290
6) AMOCO OIL CO 42401
7) KOCH PETRO GROUP LP 28388
8) MOBIL OIL CORP 25133
9) TOSCOPETRO 21241
10) ARCO PROD CO 18950
11) CITGO PETRO CORP 16593
12) FINA OIL & CHEM CO 15034
13) PREMCOR REFG GROUP INC THE 13768
14) LION OIL CO 12291
15) TPI PETRO INC 11103
16) COASTAL CORP THE 9644
17) PHILLIPS PETRO CO 9549
18) MURPHY OIL USA INC 6594
19) PORT ARTHUR COKER CO 6321
20) EQUIVA TRADG CO 5492
21) HUNT CRUDE OIL SUPPLY CO 4883
22) BAYOIL USA INC 3510
23) ULTRAMAR INC 2741
24) LYONDELL CITGO REFG LP 1919
25) DIAMOND SHAMROCK REFG & MKTG 1828
26) CONOCO INC 1572
27) ORION RFNG CORP 1404
28) PHILLIPS 66 CO 1078
29) TESORO HAWAII CORP 619
30) BP OIL SUPPLY CO 500
31) TESORO PETRO CORP 299
32) US OIL & REFG CO 99
33) SHELL OIL CO 69
34) VITOL S A INC 50

Persian Gulf includes = Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates.
http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/...mpany_level_imports/current/data/summary.html

Not trying to pick a fight, but IMHO, Even though some or even all of us may be unhappy with the actions of some of the governments of the countries we import oil from, using derogatory terms like "towelheads" does not make us any better than the people from those countries calling us the Jacka**es because they don't agree with what our government is doing. I put the "**" in the above word.

Re: Let's buy the right gas!!!!!

As far as North Slope oil, much of it does indeed go to Japan. It is a high sulphur content oil, and the refineries are better suited to it there than they are here. (There are a couple of refineries in Washington State that use Alaskan oil, however.)
There is an agreement in place for Japan to take Alaskan oil, and they replace it to us with other oil from other sources. If for whatever reason those supplies were cut off, we reserve the right to cut off the Alaskan oil to them.

This discussion reminds me of a recent dispute over water in the Great Lakes. It seems a Canadian company wanted to take several billion gallons of water out of Lake Superior and market it. There is an international treaty in place between the US and Canada, among other things stipulating that any significant use of water from the Great Lakes has to be approved by both countries.
The Canadian company argued that since all of the water was coming from the Canadian side, the treaty should not apply.
They lost the argument.

Oil is the same way. It is a world commodity, and anywhere the US buys, or produces, oil, affects the world price of oil, and therefore the price of mid-eastern oil and the revenue from that oil that is received by mid-eastern countries.
The only way any policy would be effective would be a general boycott of mideastern oil by all parties, or an effective blockade stopping the shipment of that oil.
Any other action simply changes the source of the funds, and not the amount of funds, since oil prices in the world market quickly achieve equilibrium.
And buying oil from non mideastern sources does nothing at all to change this equation. Buying less oil, or having more production from non mideastern sources will have the effect of lowering prices, perhaps, but then with low oil prices, oil exploration and drilling tend to slow, especially in this country where it becomes uneconomical to pursue it.
Buying oil from non mideastern sources may make you feel better, but it simply has no effect on anything in the scheme of things.
